The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) of Northern Cyprus was opened in 2024 at the Northern Cyprus Campus of Ankara Social Sciences University, one of the important state universities of the Republic of Turkey, with the approval of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and will start accepting students in the 2024-25 academic year. The program will accept Turkish, TRNC and foreign students. Turkish citizens will be able to enter the program with YKS, TRNC citizens and foreign students who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC will be able to enter with their high school graduation averages.
Management Information Systems is an interdisciplinary department that incorporates the basic concepts of business, informatics and computers. It is obvious how fast the innovations in information systems are developing and how much they affect our lives. This change brings up brand new business problems because it is essential to have an IT infrastructure to manage these systems efficiently. Management informaticians are sought after in all companies. We have set out to be the most experienced practitioners and researchers of this young field in Northern Cyprus. Another building block of quality education that comes with competent staff is modern technical infrastructure. We have a fully equipped computer lab for our undergraduate students and our classes are organized in such a way that there is one computer per student. All of our classrooms and laboratories are equipped with video projectors and meet the needs of modern education. MIS undergraduate education includes basic computer and business courses in the first two years. In the third and fourth years, there are integration courses that combine these two subjects. In parallel with the innovations in information technologies, which we follow carefully, our program will be updated every two years with the contributions of sectoral consultants.
The curriculum of our program is similar to that of Boğaziçi University. Our graduates will be able to work in systems and software development or IT departments or hardware and software departments of large national and international organizations, especially management consulting firms. Our graduates will be able to work in various positions such as systems analyst and designer, programmer, information systems manager, project specialist and manager, IT specialist/manager, business analyst, marketing specialist/manager, finance specialist/manager and human resources specialist/manager. In order for our graduates to be able to open up to the whole world, the language of instruction of the program has been chosen as English. ASBU TRNC-MIS Department will be the only address where you can experience the advantages such as quality education, free thinking environment, respectability in the sector while receiving education in this profession, which is very open in the world and in our country.
